Custom Exteriors recently completed a full vinyl siding replacement and numerous roof repairs on a home in Fort Collins, Colorado. This project was a multi-trade endeavor that combined high-performance vinyl siding installation with targeted roofing maintenance to ensure the home is fully protected against the unique weather patterns of Northern Colorado. Premium Vinyl Siding and Custom Trim
The main part of this project was the installation of 600 square feet of premium vinyl siding. Before the new panels were hung, our crew performed a full tear-off of the existing materials and installed a professional-grade house wrap. This moisture barrier is essential in the Fort Collins area, as it allows the home to “breathe” while preventing wind-driven rain from reaching the wooden substrate.
For this specific job, the homeowner selected a Premium Color finish. Premium colors in vinyl siding are manufactured with advanced pigments and UV-inhibitors that prevent the “chalking” or fading often seen in standard economy grades. Because these darker or more vibrant hues absorb more heat, the material is engineered to resist thermal expansion, ensuring the panels stay flat and secure for decades. To finish the look, we installed 125 linear feet of custom-bent aluminum fascia in white and utilized 30 pieces of J-trim to create a clean, watertight seal around the patio windows and utility blocks.
Targeted Roofing Repairs and Maintenance
While the siding was the primary focus, our inspection revealed several roofing vulnerabilities that required immediate roof repairs to prevent internal water damage. Roof maintenance is a critical component of any exterior project, as a failing roofline can allow moisture to seep behind new siding, leading to rot or mold over time.
- Wind-Blown Shingle Repair: We replaced or sealed and re-nailed shingles that had been lifted by high winds to restore the roof’s wind resistance rating.
- Sealant Application: Our team identified and sealed nail pops and roofing penetrations, which are the most common points of failure for leaks in residential roofs.
- Attic Ventilation Update: We removed and replaced a damaged power attic fan cover to ensure the home maintains proper thermal regulation and moisture control in the attic space.
- Debris and Disposal: A 12-yard disposal bin was utilized to ensure all old materials were removed from the site, leaving the property spotless upon completion.
