Custom Exteriors was founded in 2018 by John Kinyon and Mike O’Brien, each bringing decades of industry experience. Mike has an extensive background in roofing and gutters, and John comes with unmatched skills in the window and siding world. They joined forces to create a single exterior remodeling company able to deliver a full suite of exterior services, all under one roof.

Their shared vision was clear from the beginning: to change exterior remodeling in their community. They want to do this by making it not only easier but also better. This vision is part of the core values that define Custom Exteriors today.

Custom Exteriors is licensed and insured to complete roof replacements throughout Colorado. We carry General Liability, Workman’s Compensation, and an Umbrella policy. We are happy to provide our insurance certificates upon request. Due to Mike’s passing ICC Standard Roofing Contractor test results, we can obtain roofing licenses across our state. Because we serve the Front Range, Eastern Colorado, the Colorado Mountains, and Cheyenne, we have exterior remodeling experts to assist with your next residential, multi-family, or commercial exterior project. Founder/owner

John Kinyon:
windows & siding specialist

John’s experience is in the window and siding industry. John brings decades of experience and knowledge to every window or siding replacement we complete. Because of his extensive time in the industry, John has seen almost everything concerning window replacement. This allows him to ensure a smooth replacement process and provide peace of mind to our customers, knowing they are in his skilled hands.

John grew up in Canyon City, Colorado, where his days were spent playing all different sports. Growing up in this small town in Colorado helped instill the high values and morals that John still prioritizes today. His dedication to honesty and his personal ethics are reflected in his business practices daily.

John has a wife, two kids, and a beagle named Hank. As with most parents of teens, John spends most of his free time running kids to and from sporting events, school, and social gatherings. He enjoys spending time in nature, golfing, watching his kid’s sports, and spending time with his wife.

Mike O'Brien:
Roof & Gutters Guru

Mike’s extensive background in roofing and gutters spans decades. Mike is skilled and knowledgeable in most residential and commercial roofing systems. He is a certified ICC roofing contractor and a HAAG-certified roofing inspector. Mike’s experience in roofing began in roofing sales. Because Mike’s experience spans every aspect of the process from sales to production and the importance of our reputation, he and his team can offer well-rounded and encompassing roofing services throughout Colorado.

Mike grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, and spent his youth excelling in racquetball, even winning a state championship. Through sports, Mike learned the importance of being a dependable teammate. When you replace your roof with Custom Exteriors, Mike and his team work hard to ensure he maintains that dependable reputation. Mike is a recognized source of knowledge in the exterior remodeling field, trusted by many sources, including Architectural Digest.

Mike has a wife, a daughter, and three dogs (Roxy, Manda, and Millie. He spends much of his free time helping his daughter in her quest for volleyball greatness and spending time with his family. In his spare time, Mike enjoys traveling, golf, racquetball, and boating.
